Four friends seek solace in each other's company by sharing a house over the Christmas holidays after an unnamed catastrophic event has thrown the world into chaos. They perform ordinary tasks like cooking a turkey, drinking coffee, fishing, hanging laundry to dry and telling stories as well as unusual pastimes like soft shoe dancing, acting like bears and claiming a lounge chair as their own personal kingdom. Their actions are tinged with a darkly funny absurdity. Action is considered to be among Sam Shepard’s most important works and has been compared to the work of Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter.

Starring

Taylor Harris - Shooter

Caleb Mosley - Jeep

Mikaela Baker - Liza

Sienna Castañeda Abbott - Lupe

Described by New York Magazine as “the greatest American Playwright of his generation,” Sam Shepard (1943-2017) ranks as one of America's most celebrated dramatists. Many of his plays are considered canonical to the American Theatre including his 1979 play Buried Child, which won the Pulitzer Prize, as well as A Fool For Love, True West, Curse of the Starving Class among many others. He received the PEN/Laura Pels Theater Award as a Master American Dramatist in 2009. Undermain has long considered Sam Shepard to be the founding blueprint of its artistic vision with his short play Killer’s Head among the first works performed in the Undermain basement.
